The Benzie Human Services Collaborative
is pleased to announce

3rd Annual

Wheels4Wellness

A Bike-riding event around Crystal Lake to Help Families in Need in Benzie County

The Story

Michigan’s weak economy hasn’t done much to help children and families already struggling to make it here in Benzie County, one of the poorest counties in the state.
The Benzie Human Services Collaborative (HSC) organization has been addressing these issues and helping children and their families for than a decade. Much of the support has come from local sources and a lot has come from the state – that is, until recently. State funding has been cut and we find that we need to look elsewhere in order to provide some of the same helpful services and programs that have been providing that essential safety net for our community members.

So, the Wheels4Wellness was born. All proceeds from the registration fees and sponsor donations will go towards funding programs, contracts for services, as well as funding for emergency services, like shoes and clothing for children, emergency home repairs, utility payments and even parent education. Your support is greatly appreciated.

The Vitals:

What: Wheels4Wellness

When: Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 9:30 a.m.

Where: The Beulah Village Park on Crystal Lake

Why: To help local families in need with food, clothing, and emergency services like heating and transportation. This is part of a greater effort from many funding sources to help those who find themselves out of work and struggling to make ends meet.

Registration Fee: $40 pair, $25 Single, $50 Family up to 5

Route: Surprise! We’re going another direction... this year, we’ll be starting in the Beulah Park and instead of heading out to US 31, we’ll be heading west down the Betsie Valley Trail toward Frankfort. Going down the trail will allow for any number of variations on the distance you end up going; for example, do you want a short ride with your young children? Head to the water station on Mollineaux, about three miles out (remember the three miles back). Feeling up for a good out-and-back? Go all the way to Frankfort where you’ll be greeted with chocolate and liquid refreshments. That’s about 8 miles one way. Then simply turn around and head back to Beulah via the Trail. And for the serious enthusiast, circumnavigate the whole of Crystal Lake for a leg-burning, twenty-five mile venture. Regardless of how you go, you’ll end up back at the Park where a food fest and cookout, courtesy of the Beulah Boosters, will be waiting. And there’s no charge for the food!

Your registration fee is a contribution and is tax-deductible! Thank you!
